Dexter's Law

Dexter's Law
Effective January 2, 2026, in Florida, under Trooper's Law (SB 150), it is now a third-degree felony to leave a dog restrained and abandoned outdoors during a declared natural disaster, when mandatory, or voluntary evacuation orders are in place. Dexter's Law, Florida House Bill 255, increases criminal penalties for aggravated animal cruelty and introduces new measures aimed at improving accountability for offenders.
