The Humane Society of Sarasota County will host the Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event from June 19-21, 2026, featuring more than 200 dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens in need of new families as part of a statewide initiative to place 2,000 pets into caring homes. Nearly 50 animal welfare groups across Florida are joining the effort, with adoption fees waived throughout the event. Many participating animals come from partner shelters in areas with fewer adoption resources, helping create room for more rescue efforts across the state. After helping 122 pets find homes during last year’s event, including a single-day record of 70 adoptions, organizers are hoping to achieve an even greater impact this year.
